Challenge: The light beer category is dominated by mass domestics perceived as lacking flavor and quality, while the craft segment declines as consumers prioritize more sessionable options.
Approach: Own quality as the differentiator. Unlike competitors who simply claim “American,” American Light is truly brewed with 100% American-grown ingredients by an independent American-owned brewery. We leveraged this truth to reposition it as the premium, award-winning choice in the light beer category.
The creative leans into refined, high-quality photography and a clean, elevated design system that reinforced the brand’s brewing heritage and ingredient story.
Packaging was refreshed with premium cues including metallic inks and spot gloss, while emphasizing the bottle format to signal a more elevated perception over traditional cans. The system was extended across a full 360 campaign, including television, OOH, paid media, e-commerce, and a redesigned tap handle to support on-premise visibility.

Designed to feel premium, highly legible in bar environments, and distinctive against competitors, the tap handle extends the Perfect Pint glass into a refined pub-style silhouette. It features a 3-sided topper, gold accents for a premium cue, red and white striping tied to packaging, and a wrapped tagline reinforcing “America’s Most Premium Light Beer” at point of sale.
